The Local Organising Committee is happy to propose two Post-Congress Study Tours for Congress delegates and Accompanying persons.

The registration & payment must be made through the congress registration form.

~~ST1 - Study Tour to Caldeira Guilherme Moniz~~ (CANCELLED)

Date and time: Saturday, 31 August 2024
Price: 70 EUR/person (includes transport, all activities mentioned in the trip as well as lunch. Places are limited to 150 people.)

The idea is to show you the relevance of the use of natural resources in the economy. 1) Geothermal Station generates 22,0% of electricity in the Azores, 35,9% in the Island of São Miguel and 8,8% in Terceira Island. Where goes the rent of the Resource? Does it have an impact on the price of electricity? What is the effect on the economy? What is the value added of knowledge?; 2) Furna de Água, shows the beginning of the water supply system depended on the land use. How can farmers produce water? 3) Caminho das Bestas, show the possibility of the islands being inhabited for some periods before the Portuguese and Flemish Settlers of the XV Century; 4) Caldeira de Guilherme Moniz with wild bulls and laursilvae? What is the role in the local economy and for the cycle of water? What can we learn from the interaction between local festivities, cuisine and sustainable development?

ST2-Study Tour to Caldeira de Santo Cristo in São Jorge Island

Date and time: Saturday, 31 August 2024
Price: 85 EUR/person (includes transport by boat, all activities mentioned in the trip as well as lunch). Please note: Should the trip be cancelled because of the conditions of the sea, then full reimbursement will be made.

NOTES FOR REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS FOR THE TOUR

Please:

- bring a warm coat.

- walking shoes/tennis.

- 1 more pair of socks and 1 t-shirt.

- bring cash, there is no ATM.

- take 1 liter of water.

- Meeting point at 7:45am at Angra marina next to the Angra Marina Reception House, located between Porto de Pipas and Cais da Alfandega.

Fajà Caldeira de Santo Cristo is a nature reserve and special ecological area, it is considered to be a sanctuary for body boarding and surfing. It is the only place in the archipelago where clams (Tapes decussatus), a local delicacy, grow.

With this trip you will make a unique experience the open sea and remote life in a Fajã . You will be embarking on an exciting 12-hour trip and come back home with unforgettable memories.

The agency will be able to organise three boats (30+30+14 persons).
