Getting to Sofia

By Air 

Sofia is served by Sofia International Airport (SOF), which is located approximately 10 kilometers from the city centre. 

The airport offers direct connections to many major European cities including Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich, Istanbul, London, Paris and Rome. 

Transport from the Airport 

Metro The Sofia Metro provides a direct connection between the airport and the city centre. Line M4 connects Sofia Airport with the central stations of Serdika and Sofia University. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes. 

Taxi Official taxis operate at the airport terminal. The journey to the city centre typically takes 20–30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Public Transport in Sofia 

Sofia has a well-developed public transport system. 

Metro 

The metro is the fastest way to move across the city and connects the airport with the central areas. 

Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines, kiosks, or directly using contactless payment in most vehicles. 

Here is the map of Sofia metro lines. The green (3), the Red (1) and the Yellow (4) lines are passing through the Congress venue location. The cost of a single ticket is 0.80 euro cents.

Ground transportation

Passport and Visa Information

 Do you need a visa?

To enter Bulgaria, you may need a Passport and/or a Visa, depending on the country you live in. 

For EU citizens who travel to Bulgaria, no passport is required, just the identity card with latin characters is enough.
For the non EU citizens, a valid passport is necessary to enter Bulgaria. In case you lose your passport in Bulgaria, the local police and the embassy of your home country must be contacted.
