Abstract

Nowadays, social responsibility practices of companies in the private sphere and "rationalization" in the public sphere interact. Two findings related to innovation and intelligence are already needed at this level: large companies aren'y no longer the only ones guiding the act of producing and innovating. A kind of networking and interweaving that interacts social, economic and territorial.
The territorial overhaul and the institutional dynamism that Morocco is currently experiencing make "social entrepreneurship" and "social innovation" questioned as new expressions or trends whose practices precede the legal-institutional framework. From structures classically falling within the ESS, emerge cases claiming their specificity beyond the associative and cooperative framework but standing out from ordinary enterprises (Eddelani - 2016).
Based on common definitions (Avise, RQIS...), several characterization tests accompany a proliferation of so-called innovative initiatives that are socially and territorially intelligent. From the state, to research structures, to civil society the application of various "revealing triggers" is made . From the central state to its territorial antennas, the map of the interactivity between social innovation and its spatial envelope also serving as anatomy is claiming as the third way especially that one scrutinizes a new paradigm of inclusive development.
This paper adopts a mixed observation approach : neutral and participative by conducting semi-structured interviews based on a guide of interviews with social innovation project leaders. For convenience, we interviewed the initiatives awarded by the Center for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (Morocco-CISE - 2017). The above projects are broken down by the four criteria used in the current characterization grid in Europe and Canada:
• Is it questioned whether each project responds to a need poorly or unmet in current market conditions and social policies?
• Does it involve experimentation and some risk taking?
• Does it involve users and other stakeholders?
• Does it leave visible positive effects on the territories of obedience?
Subdivided into sub-criteria constituting a first draft of a characterization grid for social innovation in Morocco, these criteria will then be related to the criteria of anchoring and territorial dynamism. The aim is to look for the possible correlation between the first set of indicators and those linked to the territory.
Two strong moments will then articulate our paper: the first will return to the conceptual and theoretical framework, in the second part we will present the context of the case, the methodological approach taken and the results of the investigation.

Abstract

Whereas social innovation is being increasingly proposed as sustainable approach to address social problems, research aiming at identifying the sources and types of social innovation is lagging behind the empirical dynamism in the field. This study provides a contribution to meet the existing gap between existing social innovation literature and the rich body of literature on innovation management. This study builds on a systematic literature review to characterize the entrepreneurial practices of social innovation, linking them with the prevalent innovation typologies and classifications, and identifying critical aspects and challenges in the management of processes social innovation. By providing evidence about an incomplete translation of existing innovation typologies to the practice domain of social innovation, the study points out the ambiguity in the characterization of the processes of social change that are taking place, which compromises the dissemination of knowledge and practices in the field.
