Session Types and Submission Guidelines

ERSA2017 has two submission regimes that depend on the type of session:

Special Sessions (SS), Young Scientists Sessions (YSS) and Refereed Sessions (RS)

  • Submission of an extended abstract (1200-2000 words) or a full (draft) paper (deadline Feb 28th 2017)
  • After a review process, a decision is made regarding acceptance to the congress and session type (before March 31st 2017)
  • Registration for the congress including a full (draft) paper (deadline June 9th 2017)
  • After a registration check, a decision is made regarding final acceptance and programming of the paper in a SS, YSS or RS (before June 16th 2017)
  • All presentations will be assigned a discussant (before June 30th 2017)

Ordinary Sessions

  • Submission of an abstract (200-400 words) (deadline Feb 28th 2017)
  • After a review process, a decision is made regarding acceptance to the congress (before March 31st 2017)
  • Registration of presenting author(s) for the congress before July 31st 2017, in order to have their paper(s) scheduled in the programme

All submissions will be reviewed by the LOC and/or the Scientific Committee of the congress. The LOC has the right to reject submissions from the congress or move submissions to another theme or another type of session. Special Sessions have a minimum of 6 submitted papers. In case a proposed Special Session does not meet this condition, it will be programmed as an O-Session or an R-Session.

Young Scientists Session and Epainos Award

The Young Scientists Sessions provide young academics in Regional Science the opportunity to present their work for specialists in the field and to receive feedback and a review of the presentation and paper. There are two types of sessions: YSS and Epainos sessions. Both types offer sessions with 30 minutes per presentation. In addition, the Epainos sessions offer the opportunity to win the Epainos award.

To present in the YSS, the presenter is:

  • Younger than 33 years on September 1st, 2017 and must not have a senior position (as associate professor or higher).
  • In case of multiple- authored papers these two criteria are not applicable for the co-author(s).

To be eligible for the Epainos Award and to present in the Epainos Session, all authors are:

  • Younger than 33 years on September 1st, 2017 and must not have a senior position (as associate professor or higher).
