Congress Venue

The Congress will take place at two sites in Bolzano: Eurac Research - Institute for Regional Development and The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (UNIBZ).

Eurac Research site will be used ONLY for Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception.

Eurac Research is an applied research centre located in Bolzano/Bozen, South Tyrol. Founded in 1992 as a private association, Eurac Research currently has eleven institutes and four specialized centres organised into four main areas of research: Autonomies, Mountains, Health and Technologies.

The centre was established in South Tyrol, a mountainous, multilingual region on the border between Italy and Austria, where Italian-, German- and Ladin-speaking communities live and work in a spirit of cooperation. The needs of this region, along with the knowledge it generates, form the basis of Eurac Research’s studies, and its findings are shared at international level. Today more than 450 scientists coming from all over the world work at the research centre.

Eurac Research addresses the greatest challenges facing us in the future: people need health, energy, well-functioning political and social systems and an intact environment. These are complex questions, and we are seeking the answers in the interaction between many different disciplines. In doing so, Eurac Research’s work embraces three major themes: regions fit for living in, diversity as a life-enhancing feature, a healthy society.

Eurac Research is linked to other research networks all over the world and has partners in more than 50 countries on five continents. The centre collaborates with international organisations such as the Alpine and Carpathian Conventions, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) along with several space agencies.

UNIBZ site will be used FOR ALL Plenary and Parallel sessions.

The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano was founded in 1997. Our university has a strong international outlook, as testified by its multilingual courses (German, Italian, English and Ladin) and the high number of students and teaching staff from abroad.

The taught modules on offer and our research projects are linked to international and inter-regional networks. For example, within the Euregio project, we are partnered with the universities of Innsbruck and Trento, and we are committed to reaching top quality standards.

The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano is located in one of the most fascinating European regions, at the crossroads between the German-speaking and Italian economies and cultures. Its trilingualism in teaching and research, its high level of internationalisation as well as an ideal study environment guaranteed by its excellent facilities are some of the reasons why unibz regularly reaches top positions in national and international rankings.
